These Divas of Dance produced massive hits during the 1990s and garnered masses of fans on the South African club scene. Sonia released 15 singles, 11 of which ranked in the United Kingdom’s (UK) top 30, with her debut single, 'You’ll never stop me loving you', reaching number one. Her debut album, Everybody Knows, sold over 500 000 copies and her song, 'Better the devil you know', ranked at number two when Sonia represented the UK at Eurovision in 1993.
Gordon’s singing career really took off in 1988 in the UK where she was the lead singer for club music acts such as Offshore, Deja Vu and Quartzlock. During that time, she released singles such as 'No regrets', 'Love eviction' and 'You make loving fun'. For her next single, 'Happenin’ all over again', Gordon collaborated with British hit-making team Stock Aitken and Waterman. Other hits included 'How could he do this to me', 'Beyond your wildest dreams', 'Gonna catch you', which was written and produced by the house group Black Box.
Black Box’s first single, “Ride on time” was a hit worldwide and became the UK's best selling dance record of all time. Their album Dreamland was released in May 1990 with tracks like 'Everybody everybody', 'I don’t know anybody else' and 'Strike it up' becoming major hits across the world. Dreamland earned a gold disc in both the UK and the United States and achieved double platinum status in Canada. The group’s second album Positive Vibration included the songs 'Fall into my love', 'Not anyone' and 'I’ve got the vibration'.
