Matthew Gardiner is a proudly South African 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Pietermaritzburg, KZN. His style can be described as an easy mix of pop and folk music. With the use of a loop station, Matthew incorporates intricate layers of vocal and guitar melodies into beautifully crafted works of art that are sure to grab even the most distracted listener’s attention. Matthew’s dream to play music full-time is quickly becoming a reality, having received a golden ticket in the 2016 Idols SA competition, and making it into the top 37. In 2016, he performed at the Ballito Pro, Oktoberfest and White Mountain Music festivals. He also opened up for Majozi and the Umhlanga Food and Music Festival. This year he has already performed at Lube and Tube in Winterton and is booked for Splashy Fen 2017. Matthew is currently busy laying the framework for a 6-track EP and is set to start the recording process this year. With a rapidly growing following, Matthew is a pioneer of the next generation of local solo singer-songwriters who are putting KZN on the map.
He's just released his debut single 'Sea Of Faces' produced by Neil Breytenbach from Prime Circle.
