State Society have just released their new music video for their new single, ‘We Are’, taken from the upcoming yet-to-be-titled album. Taking a step back from their usual pop rock sound that they have become known for. This single showcases the more serious and mature side of their music. Clifford Barnard, frontman for the band explains the meaning of the new single; ‘‘We Are’ is about us as a band but anyone in any field at any age can relate to it. It’s about living your ultimate dream as a person or as part of a group. For us, it’s about being on that stage jamming our hearts out to anyone in any place at any time.’

Over the last few months, the band have been busy at Anti-Motion Studios with Dave Grevler, putting together the finishing touches to their new album. ‘All we can say at this point is that we are extremely amped on what we have in store on this new album. We have tried some new things musically so we are keen to hear what people think when they hear it for the first time.’ Says Marchant Pretorius, guitarist of the band.
State Society has officially become a five-piece band with the addition of Justin Rae on guitar. Justin boasts a serious amount of experience in the live music scene and has performed on some of the biggest stages including opening for Metallica at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. ‘The new tracks have so many layers that we need to fill out live on stage so Justin was the obvious choice when we were thinking about bringing someone new on.’ Says bassist, Mike Pocock.
