Easter Sunday marks the fourth and final day of the iconic Splashy Fen Music Festival, and campers continue to enjoy the great sounds and great vibes of the festival’s 30th celebration, set in the picturesque setting of the Southern Drakensberg.

“There has been rain, and wind, and sun,” says Steve Kruger, who has been coming to Splashy Fen since its take-over by Impi Concept Events in 2016, and who is camping with his son this year. “It really is four seasons in one day here at Splashy Fen, but it certainly adds to the spirit of the festival. There are people enjoying the sun one minute and donning their gumboots the next. There is happiness wherever you look. Great food. Amazing music. So far it’s been a special weekend away.”

Friday night saw local favourites Goodluck and Jeremy Loops wow the 9 000 strong crowd with their catchy beats and infectious on-stage presence, not to mention sparkling displays that set the stage alight. Shortstraw also performed on the Main Stage on Friday evening; as well as Mbijane Sibisi and Seb Goldswain who performed with other local acts at the popular Acoustic Stage.

Saturday morning brought strong wind and rain, but trail runs, yoga and general merriment continued as normal for Splashy Fenners who enjoyed hearty breakfasts, fire performances, gum boot dancing, drumming and belly dancing workshops as well as the annual Splashion Show.

The Splashion Show kicked off Saturday afternoon festivities in the Acoustic Stage, with fans dressing up in fancy dress attire and enchanting outfits that had the crowds both in stitches and applause. This year, the prize went to well-deserving young Benji Janse Van Rensburg who dressed up as the Transforming car character from the Transformer movies, and won a trip for two to Eden Island for 5 nights… hands down!

Forest Key, Zebra, The Shabs and The Steezies got the party started down on the Corona River Stage. While Kritik & Sennora, Park, Craig Rude, Asante, Kyle Deutsch, East Coast Radio’s Bongani Motolo, and Crazy White Boy will keep it going on Sunday evening at the Red Square Electric Boma.
