Afro/indie rock band, Ben Dey and the Concrete Lions (BDCL) will be releasing their debut EP 'RISE' on the 29th September.

Pre-orders are available from the 18th September via iTunes

The seven-track EP marks the group’s biggest commercial release and follows the success of its single Easy Love, which topped the 5FM rock chart in 2016.

Recorded at Popsicle Studios in Woodstock, Cape Town, the EP showcases the group’s most popular songs, including End of the Line, One Day and Up In Flames.

“In the last year, the band has concentrated on its live set. Performances at Rocking the Daisies, Oppikoppi, Park Life, Bushfire Festival and Up The Creek has evolved our songs and the band finally feels ready to release an accurate narrative of these experiences,” says Ben Dey, the group’s vocalist.

BDCL are an enigma. There is not much said during a performance but from the moment they step on stage, it becomes clear BDCL are here to deliver. Watching a BDCL sound check it’s like watching a finely tuned space crew, prepare for lift off. BDCL deliver their powerful lyrical ballads against a rich tapestry of complementary sound. Every note is delivered so it feels fresh and new. The afro-pop fusion is easy on the ears and it never gets old heading such a mighty voice emanating from such a slight framed creature as Ben Dey. Their music conveys the uncommon depth of feeling that perfects a message that is at times mournful but always uplifting. Their songs touch on a multitude of social issues, ranging from environmental awareness to equality.("Introducing Ben Dey And The Concrete Lions"  (sic) Texx and the City

BDCL have the rare ability to produce music that feels tight, well-rehearsed but somehow also seems improvised and organic. Dichotomies such as these make the band so interesting. Soulful, African and organic are just some of the words used to describe their unique rock sound that saw them shoot to the top of local radio charts last year. (sic)

Made up of Ben Dey (lead vocals), Ongama Mona (lead guitar), Alex Birns (drums) and Dillon Birns (bass), the foursome share the same ambition, ideology and commitment which has been crucial from the get-go.
