'When it Rains' is the new single from Cape Town-based indie pop band Frances Clare. Having recently released their EP Gold and with a European and UK tour approaching, the band has had a busy start to the year. Although the track is not on the new EP, it holds a special place in the band's heart as vocalist Frances Litten explains,“When it Rains is one of the first songs that we performed together as a band so it's only fitting that we use it to commemorate a year of touring together.”
The video for the track was directed by Kayla Esterhuizen using footage from the bands trip to the National Arts Festival in Makhanda last year as well as snippets from tours and shows around South Africa.
“This music video is a commemoration of our first ever tour almost a year ago to the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. We were sponsored a beautiful car and did the trip in one day! We then proceeded to perform 11 shows in just one week. This has to rank as one of our favourite trips. We explored the area, busked, performed and spent a lot of time together as a band. The footage is mostly of our tour to Grahamstown but also includes some shots from shows on our March Garden Route Tour and local performances. Our goal with the When It Rains music video was to create a behind-the-scenes home video that gives viewers a closer view of the members but remains true to our quirky style.” Frances Litten. [sic]
