OOOTH has released the second official single and music video for the band, entitled 'CALLING ME'. 'CALLING ME' comes from their debut album, Who Cares What You Think. released in November 2018.
'CALLING ME' was written in late 2018 by JASON OOSTHUIZEN and was inspired by the thought that humanity as a race lives a backward life where those who are meant to help according to biblical rules, are the ones who firstly focuses on self-gain.
“'CALLING ME' is about the fact that everywhere you go, you see churches advertising that Jesus can save your life and God is your only option. However, once you go to these establishments, money is the objective. New churches pop up everywhere with big expenditures, but around every corner, there are beggars and hungry people with the church only assisting once their cut has been made. For me, this just does not make sense.”
A pure rock ’n roll track with a strong lyrical message, the single features a strong OOOTH sound with JASON’s drumming techniques shining through; a clear indication of his interpretation of rock music.
The video for 'CALLING ME' was directed by Herbie Brown and shot by Jet Black London (who also produced and shot OOOTH’s previous video for Hands Under The Table). The video showcases a mixture of animated and real-life performance shots and is also the first music video featuring the full OOOTH band.
"With Easter coming up soon, everything is biblically driven, but a majority of people will be going to church for the first, or only time this year. As much I know this song is a very touchy subject, I think it could make a difference and hopefully make someone think a little bit further. Everyone is giving and donating where they can, and it is amazing, but why must one event in the year be the only time we care and give?”
