Unpredictability is Key With Caelo’s New Single ‘Why Don’t We Just Look Up.’

Cape Town, based alternative-rock outfit Caelo’s new single ‘Why Don’t We Just Look Up’ is equal parts detached and passionate.

With its casual vocal delivery and high-energy music this song about growing as a person captures the discomfort that often comes with the territory. There’s tension as the instruments constantly try to find new ways of expressing themselves within a familiar pop-punk structure which gives a sense of unpredictability.

This is one of those songs where you think you know where it’s going or what’s going to happen only for it to go in a completely different direction, largely due to the dynamic rhythm section at the heart of the band.

Let’s not forget about the harmonies. Under-stated in nature they sneak into the arrangement at key moments bringing in a new dynamic and keeping the track alive.

‘Why Don’t We Look Up’ finds its excellence in contrast and unpredictability, using a familiar structure to create unfamiliar music.
