Klopse Jol! is a unique festival experience featuring the enigmatic brothers Emo and Loukmaan Adams, who will be joining forces with various talented groups and musicians, including a Cape Malay choir the Alchemy Cultural Entertainers and PSV, one of Cape Town`s top minstrel groups, to bring you an absolutely spectacular show. There will also be appearances by special guest artists, including Nicoleen Saal, the winner of ‘Maak My Famous’, season 2 on kykNET, as well as Rjay and Lil-LK, who are well-known for the hit song 'Wikkel'. This will be a unique extravaganza that will tickle your bones with the fun and flair of traditional Cape Town music!
Loukmaan Adams says that he and Emo did not think twice when producer Vicky Davis asked them to put this show together for the Suidoosterfees. Adams says: “I mean, a Klopse Jol! At a Drive-in? How can one not have a great time! There will be alot of us on stage together having a jol. And we want people to enjoy the lekker vibes with us – in their cars, next to their cars, on top of their cars, under their cars – anywhere, as long as they are just having a good time, because we are going to party like there is no tomorrow!”
Davis says that it was the legendary theatre-maker David Kramer who suggested to her and musical director Schalk Joubert, that they should make contact with Loukmaan Adams to discuss a possible Klopse Jol! show, as there is so much potential in the work that Adams is currently doing with Cape Town choirs and musicians. “We hope that this show will go far. It is important to showcase this culturally rich musical tradition to wider audiences.”
Nicoleen Saal says that she almost wants to jump out of her skin with joy in anticipation of being part of this special concert. She says: “This is my first big show after I won Maak my Famous. I will be doing a duet with Loukmaan. I feel incredibly honoured to be able to do a song with him and I am very excited to be performing for the Suidoosterfees audience. It`s also going to be great to be able to connect with people.”
Festivalgoers can also look forward to a rendition of the hit-song 'Tsek Corona!', that went viral during lockdown earlier this year. This popular song is a satirical reworking of the well-known track 'Welcome to Cape Town' by David Kramer and Taliep Petersen and was recorded by the Adams brothers and produced by Davis and Joubert.
