WATERSHED and friends at Ballito Beats

By Press Release / News / Monday, 08 April 2019 06:50

Clear blue skies, a warm breeze and great family entertainment were the order of the day this Sunday at the Marriott Ballito Beats music concert. WATERSHED, MARC MAUREL AND THE MADDNESS and TANNER WAREHAM entertained hundreds of local Ballito fans at the Sugar Rush Park on a typically perfect North Coast Sunday afternoon.

MARC MAUREL AND THE MADDNESS got the show started shortly after gates opened, and were accompanied on stage by 10-year-old Demica Maurel – lead singer Marc’s daughter - who had the crowd mesmerised with her confidence and unlikely sound. Bringing home the true meaning of family-centric entertainment, it was the perfect start to a fun-filled Sunday afternoon chill-out session.

Fans sat back and relaxed to even more great music when TANNER WAREHAM took to the stage at 2 pm. Together with drummer Reece Cook, the duo did a swell job of energising the locals, getting them up on their feet and dancing on the spot with their alternative pop tracks, catchy hooks and instrumental arrangements.

North Coast locals mingled with friends in the glorious sunshine and enjoyed quality time with family on the open grassy lawns at Sugar Rush Park. A fully supervised kiddies zone as well as, putt-putt and train and tractor rides provided ample entertainment for the little ones; while fans savoured the great variety of food and beverages on offer… and of course, taking in some of the best musical talent South Africa has to offer.

The act of the day: Watershed took to the stage just after 3:30 pm to perform a number of their up-tempo tracks, showcasing their musical diversity by incorporating mandolins, violins and ukuleles – creating a sound that is uniquely their own. One that had the crowd roaring for more. To date, the multi-platinum artists have released 5 studio albums, along with a greatest hits album during their 18-year career, as well as receiving 2 SAMA awards for best, pop album. They are also multiple winners of SA's best band award by People Magazine.

The Marriott Ballito Beats Music Series has once again offered the North Coast community an opportunity to see award-winning acts performing right in their very own backyard – adding fresh and exciting entertainment to the Ballito social scene.

The next Marriott Ballito Beats concert will take place on Sunday the 11th of August and will see Ard Matthews and Arno Carstens team up once again for an unforgettable stage show.
