Irish/South African songwriter, Alanna Joy, has performed extensively around South Africa, sharing stages with the likes of Craig Lucas, Majozi and Hezron Chetty to name a few.

Alanna Joy's new single, 'Tell Me' shifts the balance to something darker and heavier. Known for her vulnerable lyrics and fierce performances, Alanna began moving away from her previous well-known folk/pop sound.

Maintaining her honest and vulnerable lyricism she has been known for the band introduced a more nostalgic element to their alternative rock sound, which has secured their place in the Cape Town music scene.

'Tell Me', is fierce and relatable, with themes that are more relevant now. Discussing emotional vulnerability and speaking openly about mental health issues.

“ 'Tell Me' is about the journey of learning to talk to the people around you about what you are going through. It plays on two perspectives, that of the person who is struggling and the person who is reaching out to them” Alanna Explains.

Well-known Indie-pop artist, Matt Carstens, known for his 5FM Top-40 single 'High' including his collaboration with Francois Van Coke, lends his vocals to the song.

Matt takes the lead in the second verse, playing the role of a young man who cannot find the words to express his pain.

“From its inception, I knew the song needed to be a duet. Matt and I had been threatening to collaborate for some time, so when Charlie (our bassist) suggested him for the project, I knew it would be a perfect fit”,  explains Alanna.
