Be Yourself. That’s the message from December Streets in their latest single 'Haters'.

Local alt-pop group December Streets latest single 'Haters' taps into pop’s deceptively rich history to try and inspire people to stop listening to those who want to stifle them.

I think it’s safe to say that at one point or another everybody had a crazy, unrealistic dream for their future. It’s also safe to say that everybody has had said dreams discouraged. Unfortunately, most people give in to those pressures and become ‘responsible adults,’ whatever that means.

'Haters' is here to tell you that their opinions don’t matter and you should do what you want either way. By bringing together elements of the likes of Twenty One Pilots all the way through to every boy band from the 90s December Streets have created something that’s as danceable as it is meaningful.

The song has a serious message but doesn’t take itself too seriously, a mixture that embodies the crux of the matter: you don’t need to internalise the words of haters and it’s okay not to worry about being or doing anything that isn’t you just to placate the insecurities of others.

'Haters' is an instantly groovy track that brings with it a strong message of individuality in a world that thrives on homogeneity.
