Florida born artist Ely is back, still touting the scars from lost love on his body and through his music. Even though its reach extends around the world, hip hop had its origins as pure party music. As cathartic a party drug music can be, one would not be remiss in thinking that pouring out the pain of unrequited love over hip hop beats would ever be appealing. Fast forward a few decades and tracks like Ely's brand new single 'Save Me' have become normalised, with Ely contributing in kind.

Sappy would be a word that describes anything but what hits ears from the first second of the song. Sure, there is a point to be made that sad subject matter could easily put a damper on a mood, but the production Ely employs keeps the energy up with a bounce that is nothing less than a pure head bop. Ely continues to bring forth performances true to the tragedy of the experience he sings. Each line matches urgency when needed, exudes yearning when called for, and lends itself to authenticity that should become synonymous with the young American songwriter.
