Three more Roasters join the all-star panel to skewer the ‘Black Pearl’

Johannesburg, 19 November 2024: Laughter overload alert! The final three panellists for this week’s Comedy Central Roast of Pearl Thusi served by Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind have been announced – and it’s none other than outrageous comedians Rob van Vuuren and Tol Ass Mo, and award-winning actress Mam’ Lillian Dube

The stage is set for a rollicking #RoastofPearl at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre on Thursday 21 November 2024. All the live action will be recorded for broadcast on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) on 8 December 2024.

Shots will be fired when accomplished actress and presenter Pearl Thusi occupies the hot seat to face off against the three newly unveiled Roasters, alongside Phat Joe, Zee Nxumalo, David Kau, Zodwa Wabantu, Randall Abrahams, Busiswa, Farieda “Pharoahfi” Metsileng and Donald.

Comedian, actor and writer Rob van Vuuren, who shot to fame as part of the comedy duo Corné en Twakkie, is no stranger to the party. “This is not my first Roast rodeo, and I can tell you that things heat up pretty quickly on stage,” says Rob, who lately goes by the alter ego Namaste Bae. “I’m pumped to channel my chakras into firing the shots as well as receiving them during the #RoastofPearl!”

Fellow comedian Tol Ass Mo is a seasoned rider on the rollercoaster of celebrity – with the scars to prove it. He remarks, “Nothing – and no one – is sacred in the fame game. I know Pearl is up to the task, but Roast audiences should be warned: we are not going to leave any sacred cows untoppled!”

Veteran actress Mam’ Lillian Dube is undoubtedly acting royalty, but that’s not going to stop her from ripping into her peers. She says, “I’ve seen a lot in my time, and I know about longevity in this industry. I’ve got where I am today through hard work and dedication, and I recognise those traits in Pearl as well. Having said that, these youngsters still have a lot to learn – and this gogo won’t shy away from giving them a royal tongue-lashing!”

Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Paramount Africa, and Lead at BET International, adds, “It’s the final countdown and the claws are being sharpened! With a Roast panel packed with comedians, singers, actors and outspoken media personalities, we are rubbing our hands in glee in anticipation of a sensational #RoastofPearl. It’s going to be just the ticket to royally entertain audiences and get them into the holiday spirit, and we can’t wait to see what high drama unfolds on stage!”

Book now via Webtickets to attend the live recording of the Comedy Central Roast of Pearl Thusi served by Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind on Thursday, 21 November 2024 at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg.
