Cape Town, 11 July 2025 — A dynamic new holiday experience is bringing bold colour and bright imagination to Liberty Promenade in Mitchell’s Plain this July. From 7 to 20 July, the shopping centre will host a glow-in-the-dark studio for children and families to unleash their inner artists in an environment where every stroke shines.

Housed in the mall’s former cinema area within the Food District, this pop-up initiative transforms a darkened space into a radiant, interactive canvas. Young visitors will be handed glow paints and bold markers to decorate walls and surfaces with their own luminous creations. Entry is R20 per person, with tickets available at the on-site booking desk.

Creativity That Gives Back

The activation isn’t just about bright colours — it’s about bright futures. Proceeds from every ticket sold will go towards purchasing art supplies for local daycares and NPOs in honour of Mandela Day. It’s a chance for families to participate in a hands-on, feel-good activity while making a tangible impact in their own community.

To amplify the fun, Liberty Promenade is running a social media competition alongside the event. Families who post photos or videos of their glow-filled creations using #LPGlowKids stand a chance to win one of four R500 Liberty Promenade Gift Cards.

This marks the first time an activation of this kind has been staged in the Mitchell’s Plain area — making it an ideal Winter holiday outing. More than just a play zone, the Glow Kids Studio is a screen-free opportunity for children to express themselves boldly and creatively in a supportive, family-friendly setting.

Open daily from 10am to 4pm, the Glow Walls Studio offers a safe, innovative way to bring families together while supporting community education initiatives.
