Fusing pop and soft rock into a mesmerising blend of haunting melodies and lush musicianship, 'Ghost' captures the bittersweet experience of encountering someone who presents a dazzling facade, only for the illusion to shatter, revealing nothing but smoke and mirrors. Written by Mark Sykes and Claire Helm and produced by Steve Dutton, with mastering by the renowned Carl Rosamond at RSS Music and Media, the track delivers a powerful emotional punch.
Featuring an all-star lineup of Huddersfield’s finest musicians, 'Ghost' brings together some of the most respected names in the local music scene. Steve Dutton, of mod legends The Killermeters, takes on multiple roles, from drumming and engineering to producing, cinematography, and photography. Roger Kinder, the electrifying lead guitarist from West Yorkshire’s powerhouse band Razorbach, delivers searing riffs, while Mark Sykes of Champagne Supernova lays down a bold, driving bassline. The track is further enriched by the exceptional talents of singer-songwriter Nick Ryder, who lends his expertise on additional guitars and keys.
A deeply poignant aspect of 'Ghost' is the contribution of the late Boo Sutcliffe on acoustic guitar. This was the last track Boo played on before brain surgery tragically affected his renowned dexterity. Though the song’s title was purely coincidental, his performance remains vibrant, a lasting testament to his artistry, forever alive in this stunning piece of music.
