Emerging from Helsinki, Finland, Krateros is making waves in the metal scene with their debut EP Lost in Translation. Released on January 30th via Inverse Records, the five-track record signals a fresh, unapologetic approach to thrash metal, blending aggression with progressive complexity.
A Long-Awaited Release
Lost in Translation has been years in the making, and the Finnish quintet has delivered a self-produced EP that spans the extremes of their sound. From the ferocious thrash of Uticensis to the reflective, progressive tones of Comatose Waltz, the record demonstrates the band’s versatility while remaining anchored in tight riffs and intricate arrangements. Unconcerned with trends, Krateros is committed to creating music on their own terms.
Musical DNA
Formed in 2023 and led by vocalist and guitarist Saku Rekonen, Krateros fuses the intensity of old-school thrash icons like Annihilator, Exodus, and Megadeth with the modern edge of bands such as Trivium, Machine Head, and Stam1na. Through a progressive lens, the band channels these influences into a cohesive yet unpredictable sound, answering a perceived gap in riff-driven metal in today’s scene.
