Fokofpolisiekar: Two Decades Strong

After 21 years in the music industry, Fokofpolisiekar remains unstoppable. At the close of 2023, they released their fifth studio album, Dans Deur Die Donker, along with a highly anticipated lyric book, Fokofpolisiekar {Woorde 2003 - 2023}, featuring their provocative and thought-provoking lyrics.

Big Gigs and International Tours

The band has a packed schedule, with a tour planned in the United Arab Emirates in May and shows in the Netherlands and Ireland in July. Early in 2025, they are set to open for Green Day and The Offspring at the Calabash concerts, a significant milestone for the group.

New Video and Vinyl Release

In addition to their touring schedule, Fokofpolisiekar has released a new music video and a vinyl version of Dans Deur Die Donker. The video for "Die Goeie Ou Dae" was shot during their performance at the Kirstenbosch Summer Concert on March 10, 2023, and directed by band member Jaco Snakehead Venter. The vinyl release is unique for its glow-in-the-dark feature, adding a collectible twist for fans.

The NXT FKN GEN Competition

Fokofpolisiekar, in partnership with Jägermeister, launched a competition to find emerging bands to open for them at two Dans Deur Die Donker shows. The winning band would also receive a R10,000 cash prize. Out of 71 entrants, Da Beach Boyz, a hard-core punk band, came out on top. According to lead singer Francois van Coke, Da Beach Boyz was the only band to receive unanimous approval from the Fokofpolisiekar members.

A Platform for New Talent

The NXT FKN GEN competition is designed to give exposure to new talent, with bassist and band manager Wynand Myburgh expressing hope that this opportunity will help Da Beach Boyz gain a larger fanbase. They will be performing alongside Fokofpolisiekar at the Railways Café in Pretoria on April 26 and at Sognage in Johannesburg on April 27. Other notable entrants, Shongololo and Bcom, will also perform at these shows. Ticket links for both events are available for purchase online.
