Pretoria, 2 February 2026: Earlier this month, devastating floods swept through Mpumalanga and Limpopo, leaving roads washed out, homes submerged, and parts of Kruger National Park scarred. Confronted with the widespread damage, Menlyn Park Shopping Centre took immediate action, refusing to stand on the sidelines.
Swift Action, Genuine Care
When Jacaranda FM announced its Good Morning Angels Project Flood Relief initiative, Menlyn Park quickly responded. Recognising the emotional connection many shoppers have with the affected regions, the centre committed a cash donation of R250,000 to support urgent relief and recovery efforts.
Centre Manager Nisha Kemraj explained, “Seeing the destruction firsthand was overwhelming. These are places that our shoppers cherish, and we felt compelled to contribute in a meaningful way.”
Community Lends a Hand
Beyond the financial contribution, Menlyn Park transformed three of its largest centre courts into accessible donation hubs over the weekend. This allowed Pretoria residents to drop off essential items without needing to travel to Jacaranda FM’s Midrand studio. Shoppers responded immediately, filling boxes with non-perishable food, bottled water, nappies, and baby formula.
Kemraj added, “We simply opened the doors; our shoppers did the rest. Their generosity was remarkable.”
All donations were handed over to Jacaranda FM for coordinated distribution to flood-affected communities, in partnership with Gift of the Givers, ensuring that aid reached those who needed it most.
Through this initiative, Menlyn Park reaffirmed its role as a trusted space where compassion, community, and action converge.
