Underberg, 6 April 2023:
The beautiful sun is out in full force, the campsite is filling up with happy campers and the festivities are well underway in Underberg as the 33rd Annual Splashy Fen Music Festival kicks off.
With temperatures expected to reach a high of 27 today, the oldest and longest-running music festival in South Africa will not disappoint! At the time of this release, the festival has welcomed a total of 1616 people to the site – with thousands set to arrive over the next 24 hours.
Music-loving fans can look forward to a host of exciting line-ups at Splashy Fen this Easter long weekend, including a handful of international artists like Neon Dreams, Ziggy Alberts, and the Pierce Brothers, a few crazy pop violin sets by Durban locals Veranda Panda, a silent disco, and of course, some of the best music that South Africa has to offer. From Goodluck, Majozi, and Spoegwolf, to The Kickstands, Angel Mazibuko, Freddy-L, Lindo M, Barefoot Breeze, Steve Umculo, and so many more!
But it doesn’t end there… activities for the whole family are planned from morning to night each day. Fans can enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt for the little ones, a display of fire breathers, stilt walkers, belly dancers, and drummers in the Splashy parade, a spectacle of lights and music on the Corona Main Stage each night, SUP boarding in the river, daily yoga and trail runs and pop-up parties at the Red Bull stand.
Denver Sumption, who has travelled from Johannesburg to attend the festival this year, says that Splashy Fen feels like home! “I honestly love this place, and every time I come back, I am blown away by all the changes on site. From the way they light up the toilet areas, to the cool designs on the reusable cups, the larger-than-life décor on site, and the buzz in the Food Court area… it’s a vibe and I am just so happy to be here.”
Day Pass Tickets are available at the gate for R550 per adult ticket and R200 per ticket for kids U12. The full festival rate is charged and when attendees leave before 10h00 the following morning, they are refunded based on the days spent on site.
