Eastgate Shopping Centre has taken a bold step towards reshaping community-driven education in Johannesburg by launching Learnergy — the nation’s first holistic educational hub situated within a shopping complex. Officially open, this unique initiative offers academic support, digital tools, and wellness services, all designed to support students of every age bracket.

The brainchild of education advocate Ntsako Mhlanga, Learnergy bridges gaps in South Africa’s fractured education system. Mhlanga’s reputation for progressive projects — including mobile classrooms and literacy drives in Limpopo — precedes this venture. Now, in partnership with Eastgate, she delivers an all-in-one space providing textbooks, tutors, and access to essential digital resources.

Learnergy also doubles as a wellness centre for learners and educators. Psychological services, SACE-endorsed teacher training, and tailored private tutoring are complemented by digital initiatives like Vodacom e-School partnerships and a mobile iPad lab.

Open six days a week, Learnergy welcomes walk-ins and offers rates starting at R350 per hour. With Eastgate evolving into a social and educational nucleus, this project adds a vital dimension to its community offerings.
