Johannesburg, 20 May 2025: Acclaimed British crime drama Whitstable Pearl returns to Universal TV with its third season, kicking off on Tuesday, 27 May at 8 PM. The series, famed for its gripping mysteries and compelling character arcs, will deliver six new episodes every Tuesday until 1 July 2025.

Season 3 finds Pearl Nolan — the sharp-witted private investigator and restaurant owner — fully immersed in crime-solving, as she leaves most of the restaurant management to Dolly and Ruby. Romantic complications loom, with Pearl's relationship with boyfriend Tom facing pressure as he pushes for a deeper commitment. Meanwhile, Detective Mike McGuire returns from a sabbatical leaner, fitter, and calmer — but as the grind of policing Whitstable creeps back in, so too do old demons.

This season wisely dials down the romantic tension between Pearl and Mike in favour of layered psychological intrigue and darker mysteries. The dynamic between the two remains electric, but Pearl’s concern is more about Mike’s mental health than unresolved romantic subplots. Their paths repeatedly cross amid Whitstable’s criminal underbelly, and Pearl remains determined to help Mike confront the shadows of his past.

Season 3 Episode Highlights

  • 27 May | Girl, Whitstable Beach: A long-missing mother resurfaces. Pearl wants answers.
  • 3 June | Death, The Devil And The Fool: A girl vanishes at a psychic fair. Pearl teams up with a clairvoyant.
  • 10 June | Oysters Kilpatrick: A food critic dies just as Pearl plans a getaway with Tom.
  • 17 June | Prisoners Of The Past: Secrets about Mike’s past emerge as Pearl searches for an old friend.
  • 24 June | Walking With Ghosts: A ghost tour guide sees a beach burial. But where’s the body?
  • 1 July | Someone Like Me: A taxi driver is found dead, a banker narrowly escapes an assassin.

The series is an Acorn TV original, produced by Buccaneer Media and Acorn Media Enterprises and distributed globally by Cineflix Rights. Executive producers include Richard Tulk-Hart, Tony Wood, Julie Wassmer, and Mike Walden, with Debs Pisani producing. David Sant and Steve Brett take the director’s chair this season.

Catch Whitstable Pearl Season 3 on Universal TV (DStv Channel 117) from 27 May at 8 PM.
