Cape Town, 3 September 2025: Cavendish Square is inviting shoppers to participate in the latest edition of the much-loved literary initiative, Books With Heart: Where Every Book Gives Back. Running from Thursday, 18 to Sunday, 21 September 2025 throughout the mall, the annual charity book sale will once again demonstrate the power of pre-loved books to create lasting change. Cavendish Square continues to serve the Cape’s passionate readers with PNA and Exclusive Books, offering a wide variety of selections.

A Sale With Purpose

Shoppers can browse and purchase pre-loved books, with all proceeds going directly to local charities and organisations. By buying a book, visitors discover new reads while supporting initiatives that uplift communities.

This year’s beneficiaries include:  Animal Rescue Organisation, Domestic Animal Rescue Group; Doing It for the Orphans; Leaps Lamberts & Elands Bay Animal Protection Society; Nazareth House; Plumpets Animal Shelter; SA Guide Dogs Association; Sinako After School Care; St Lukes Combined Hospices; Tufcat The UWC Feral Cat Project; Tears Animal Rescue; and Woodside Special Care Centre.

A Tradition Revived

Centre Manager Faizah Behardien said, “Books With Heart creates a space where shoppers can engage with a meaningful cause in a way that is rewarding all round. We are proud to host this initiative and encourage our community to support the participating charities during this year’s event.”

Event Manager Rosalie Jack reflected on the origins of the project: “Over 20 years ago, my late sister Beverley Whelehan began this initiative, inviting charities to raise funds for their important work. After the challenges of recent years, we are thrilled to see this event return and encourage shoppers to once again support their community by purchasing pre-loved books.”

The event represents a true collaboration between Cavendish Square and the organisers, allowing shoppers to make a tangible difference.
