South African pop sensation CARLA FRANCO, known for her deeply personal and emotive songwriting, is thrilled to announce the release of the music video for her latest single, 'BIG TALKER'.

The 28-year-old singer-songwriter originally from Bloemfontein and now based in Cape Town, has been making waves in the music industry since her debut Chapter 1 released in April 2022. Despite being born with a hearing impairment, Carla has never let this challenge define her. Her resilience and determination have been a driving force in her music career, from her first piano lesson at the age of seven to her current success.

'BIG TALKER' was inspired by the duality of saying one thing and doing another. Carla explains, "'BIG TALKER' has been intentionally written to be received in one of two ways: The first being the experience of a partner whose words and actions don't align. The second being the heart rate inducing excitement that we have all felt at the beginning of a new and exciting romantic journey. It is up to the listener to decide what 'Big Talker' means to them."

The song's creation was a deeply organic process for Carla. "I had been sitting in my apartment in Cape Town and wanted to better understand what the 'dots' on my guitar neckline sounded like per string. In doing so, I started playing around with the bass riff that you will hear throughout the single and the hook of 'big talker, sweet talker.' It really happened organically, and usually pop songwriting does not arrive as organically for me. I suppose I had a muse and that reads throughout the single," she shared.

Recording 'BIG TALKER' was a rewarding experience for Carla. "I had recorded the basic acoustic guitar stems and all the vocals in Cape Town and then sent all the works through to Hendrik Joerges for production work. It was just fun and I remember feeling so excited about the all-reach that Big Talker could have," she recalls.

The music video for 'BIG TALKER' brings the song's fun, nostalgic, and cheeky vibe to life. Carla describes the track as "Fun, Nostalgic, Cheeky, Catchy," and the video perfectly captures these elements, reminiscent of the punk rock era of the late '90s and early 2000s.

About Big Talker

CARLA FRANCO debuts her latest single 'BIG TALKER'. The track is inspired by the duality of expressing one thing while doing another. Big Talker aims to capture two contrasting experiences: the frustration of dealing with a partner who's words don't match their actions, and the thrilling excitement at the start of a new romantic relationship. This duality is highlighted in a way that evokes a fun and nostalgic feel of the late 90s and early 2000s era - which the music video leans into as well.
