KwaZulu-Natal, 9 June 2026: With its latest initiative, Gateway Theatre of Shopping is elevating the gifting experience through From Art With Love, a year-long collaboration with Durban-based designer Kathrin Kidger. The project features a curated selection of reusable fabric wraps, now available at the Gateway Gifting Concierge on level 2, close to Starbucks, inviting customers to explore a more considered way of presenting gifts.

Designed to bring greater meaning to every gift, the collection transforms wrapping into something worth keeping by introducing fabric wrapping. Each fabric wrap is created for reuse in multiple ways, from elegant gift wrap to a statement scarf or decorative accent, offering a more enduring alternative to traditional paper. In doing so, the wrapping itself becomes part of the gift itself.

A More Luxurious Way To Gift

Set within a beautifully curated gifting space designed by Kidger herself, the experience invites shoppers to approach gifting with creativity. Creative wrapping approaches and styling inspiration offer ideas on how to present different types of gifts, adding a sense of occasion to even the simplest purchase.

The fabric designs are bold, vibrant, bright and cheerful, conveying the feeling of excitement and joy that comes with opening a beautifully wrapped gift. The collection will continue to evolve throughout the year, with fresh designs regularly introduced to keep the experience feeling new and inspiring.

While based at the Gifting Concierge, the initiative complements the broader gifting experience at Gateway, enhancing how shoppers select, prepare and present gifts from the centre’s wide selection of fashion, beauty and lifestyle stores.

Design With Purpose and Longevity

Known for her commitment to craftsmanship, local production and thoughtful design, Kathrin Kidger has brought her distinctive approach to this collaboration, extending her philosophy into the gifting space. The collection reflects a belief in design that carries emotional value and lasts beyond a single use.

Importantly, the From Art With Love initiative also supports a meaningful local cause. The full R120 from every wrapping fabric sold will be donated to The Durban Hospice for Women - Kerr House, a place of safety for survivors of gender-based violence and their children. The organisation provides shelter, food, clothing, skills development, groupwork support and psychosocial services at no cost, helping women rebuild their lives in a warm and supportive environment.
