Durban, 7 October 2025: The bright lights of social media clash with the shadows of desperation in Bad Influencer, set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on 31 October. This seven-part series blends gripping crime drama with sharp, witty social commentary, exploring the high-stakes survival and glossy illusions of influencer culture.

In a city built on appearances, two women are drawn into a dangerous double life: one online, the other in Jo’burg’s underworld. BK (Jo-Anne Reyneke), a street-smart single mother, hustles to protect her son, while destiny places her alongside Pinky (Cindy Mahlangu), a rising influencer brimming with ambition and chaos. Both broken in their own ways, they forge a combustible partnership that thrives on risk.

Together, BK and Pinky navigate Jo’burg’s counterfeit economy, selling fake luxury handbags. Fame and fraud blur, likes and lies swap places, and survival demands walking a knife-edge between heart and hustle.

The series’ shadows are populated by darker forces: Bra Alex (Vincent Mahlape) and Jobs ‘Flames’ Jiyane (Hamilton Dlamini) dominate the city’s underbelly with ruthless authority, a stark reminder that Jo’burg’s grind always hides a bigger predator.

Featuring a powerhouse ensemble, including Zozibini Tunzi in her first major acting role alongside Emmanuel Castis, Nat Ramabulana, Julia Anastasopoulos, Kamohelo Pule, Aubrey Poo, Modise Motaung, Brendon Daniels, Thapelo Mokoena, and Lerato Nxumalo, Bad Influencer unravels a world where everyone is faking it until they’re caught.
