Brace yourself, outcasts — the eerie gates of Nevermore Academy are about to creak open once more. Netflix’s hit gothic teen mystery WEDNESDAY returns for its much-anticipated second season this August, and from the looks of it, nothing is as it seems. New faces, old grudges, and dark secrets lurk around every cobwebbed corner.
Jenna Ortega returns as the razor-sharp, deadpan Wednesday Addams, now navigating the twisted halls of Nevermore Academy with a fresh round of family complications. For the first time, her brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) enrolls at the school, a development that’s equal parts comic relief and gothic nightmare for Wednesday. “Your family at school is the worst thing possible, isn’t it?” notes executive producer Tim Burton — and Nevermore’s halls just got a whole lot more crowded.
This time around, fans can expect an expanded look at the Addams Family dynamic. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán reprise their roles as Morticia and Gomez, their presence on campus adding new friction to Wednesday’s fiercely independent streak. Meanwhile, fan favorites like Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), and the twitching hand himself, Thing (Victor Dorobantu), return for more mischief.
But the biggest stir comes with the arrival of Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, a deliciously eccentric addition to the cast whose relationship with Wednesday promises to deliver some of the season’s most memorable moments. And then there’s Steve Buscemi taking over Nevermore’s leadership as Principal Barry Dort, a character as suspicious as he is charismatic.
Adding to the chaos, Hunter Doohan’s Tyler is back — the murderous Hyde lurking somewhere in the shadows, no doubt waiting to make Wednesday’s life a fresh hell. “Nothing is what it seems this season,” teases co-creator Miles Millar, hinting at even darker twists and gothic grotesqueries to come.
WEDNESDAY Season 2 unfolds in two chilling parts:
- Part 1 premieres August 6, 2025
- Part 2 follows September 3, 2025
Fans of the macabre and the morbid have plenty to look forward to when WEDNESDAY returns. More sinister mysteries, more family dysfunction, and more razor-sharp one-liners from television’s favorite gothic outcast. The question is — who can Wednesday trust when even the walls have eyes?
And, perhaps more importantly — how deep does the darkness at Nevermore truly go?
