Rugby fever recently took over Westgate Shopping Centre as its You’ve Been Bok’d campaign brought the Bokke, the fans and plenty of Green & Gold spirit together in a celebration of the game that continues to unite South Africans.

The campaign transformed Westgate into a hub of rugby excitement, giving shoppers the opportunity to participate in Bok Fridays, rugby-themed activities, competitions and fan experiences, all designed to encourage the West Rand community to get behind the Green & Gold.

A highlight of the campaign was the appearance of former Springbok star Breyten Paulse, who joined fans at Westgate, bringing a special touch of Springbok history to the celebrations.

“Rugby has always been about much more than what happens on the field. It brings people, families, and communities together. As we look towards the 2027 Rugby World Cup, it is important that we continue growing that love for the game, especially among young supporters. Campaigns like You’ve Been Bok’d give people the opportunity to feel part of the Bok journey and celebrate what rugby means to South Africa,” says Paulse.

With South Africa moving closer to the 2027 Rugby World Cup, initiatives such as You’ve Been Bok’d have an important role to play in keeping the passion for rugby alive beyond the stadium. They create opportunities for established fans to celebrate the game while introducing a new generation to the excitement, pride, and sense of community that surrounds South African rugby.

For Westgate, the campaign was also about creating meaningful experiences for the community it serves. By bringing rugby into an everyday community space, shoppers were able to engage with the sport, connect with one another, and create their own Green & Gold memories.

You’ve Been Bok’d shows that South Africa’s passion for rugby reaches far beyond the stadium. It can be found in shopping centres, communities, families, and the supporters carrying the Green & Gold spirit forward as the road to 2027 continues.
