Fay Lamour further establishes her identity while taking us on a tour through her hometown in the video for her latest single, ‘Free State of Mind.’
With a couple of EPs under her belt Lamour has quickly built an identity around smooth, luxurious jazz and ‘Free State of Mind’ is no different. More laid back than much of her work, the single unhurriedly meanders away from the restrictions of society with irresistible self-assuredness, although it must be said that the vocals can afford to be a touch louder as they have the tendency to get lost in the music.
The video is unsurprisingly sophisticated and luxurious. Shot in black and white and featuring a gorgeous classic Mercedes it follows the classy-as-ever Lamour as she takes us on a tour around Bloemfontein showing off the beauty of a city most people overlook.
Technical issues aside Fay Lamour’s ‘Free State of Mind’ is both a visual and sonic reinforcement of an identity that’s quietly been coming into its own over the last year.
